How It Works

Horses are naturally browsing animals, and their digestive systems are adapted to grass-based diets. However, modern pasture conditions, fresh young grass and additional hard feeds can increase the digestive demands placed on the horse.

When soluble sugars, starches or fibre are not fully digested in the small intestine, they may pass into the hindgut where bacterial fermentation can occur. This process can release lactic acid and may contribute to hindgut acidosis, discomfort, behavioural changes and issues such as grass laminitis.

Digest-Rite Sport + provides digestive enzymes to assist the breakdown of excess sugars, starch and fibre before undigested matter reaches the hindgut. It also includes a pre-biotic to support nutrient absorption and gut wall function, along with a toxin binder to help bind toxins so they can be passed out in the faeces.

Feeding Guide

Average 500kg horse:
Feed 50g per day, divided between feeds or given in one dose.
